FEBRUARY 2025 TRESTLEBOARD MESSAGE

Brethren,
This month marks an occasion as we come together to pay tribute to the legacy of Brother George Washington. The President of the United States and a respected member of the Masonic fraternity.

On February 17th, Washington Daylight Lodge No 14 is organizing a ceremony at Mount Vernon to honor the contributions of this individual whose ideas and guidance were instrumental in shaping our nation's years. I am delighted to invite each one of you to be part of this event and share this occasion with us.

I'm sure some of you are aware that I hail from the region of Cameroon, as a Prince of Baleng—a title that signifies a connection to duty and tradition ingrained in my heritage. Being recognized as both a Prince of Baleng and the head of this lodge highlights to me the essence of Freemasonry.

Despite our upbringings and backgrounds, we share a common dedication to Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. Throughout his lifetime Brother Washington exemplified these qualities—starting as an officer in the Indian War and then guiding the Continental Army during the Revolution before becoming the inaugural President of our young nation.

Brother Washington's exceptional quality was his values rather than seeking power; he believed true leadership comes from character and service over authority post war victories and unity efforts embody Masonic ideals we aim to follow by focusing on self-improvement and community betterment, with humility and dedication.

We view our Wreath Laying Ceremony, at Mount Vernon as more than a tribute; it's a reaffirmation of our shared dedication to the values that Brother Washington cherished deeply in his heart. As we ponder his legacy and how he led by example in fostering unity and celebrating diversity while showing compassion in all aspects of life, whether within our lodge or out, in the world, let us be inspired to follow in his footsteps and uphold these principles with unwavering commitment.

Calling on all brethren, family members, and friends of the lodge to come together with us for this meaningful moment of reflection and remembrance. Let our trip to Mount Vernon serve as a reminder that each of us holds the power to make an impact through our actions and unity in brotherhood, sisterhood despite our backgrounds and roles, in society.

Thank you for your support of Washington Daylight Lodge No 14! I'm excited to meet you at Mount Vernon as we celebrate Brother George Washington together.

Worshipful Master,
- Jacob Foko
